Are you curious to find out how good or how bad your internet connection is? You can test it with the appropriately named application Speed Test, offered by Absolute Futurity as a free and as a paid Pro version. The nice thing about this application is that it doesn’t limit itself to monitoring your internet connection alone. It can also monitor your hardware and your system.

The setup wizard that helps you install Speed Test on your PC will have you pick one of three installation types: Auto-Installation, Userdefined Installation, Installation for Advanced Users. No matter which one you choose, you will be done quite quickly.

When you launch Speed Test, you will be presented with a Getting Started notification message. Said message tells you how to create graphs and nodes. It will help you figure out Speed Test’s functionality and interface. To further help you figure things out, the interface presents balloon tips.

With Speed Test you can create a line graph. To the graph you create you can assign a node. There are three categories to choose for the node: Internet, Hardware, and System. And for each category there are several types to choose from: website, speed test, ping, CPU, memory, battery, processes, and more.

Speed Test is available as a freeware and as a paid version. The freeware version does not allow you to create more than 1 line graph and add more than 1 node to the graph. And if you instruct it to do a speed test, it will do a “one time” test for 30 minutes.

Test your internet, hardware and system with Speed Test. But to test everything you want, you will have to get the Pro version.

Pros

The setup wizard will have you pick one of several installation types. You will be presented with a useful Getting Started message. You can create a line graph and attach a node to it; there are several types of nodes to choose from. Speed Test is available as a freeware version and as a paid Pro version.

Cons

The freeware Speed Test version has limited functionality to offer: it cannot create a bar graph, cannot create systray icons, cannot use more than 1 graph and 1 node, and more.
